Rainy Day People 3 is finished and submitted. I’m very happy with it, but wish I had made it a bit bigger at the top. By the time I trimmed it straight and folded the binding to the back for a clean finish (using this wonderful tutorial, by the way), I lost at least a 1/2 inch of the sky. Oh well, I’ll know better for next time.
This quilt – and a few others – still need sleeves and labels. That’s going to be my project for this week, and I’m not going to start another quilt until I’m all caught up with sleeves and labels.

The quilting really adds the character of rain!
ohhhh love umbrella’s – and love the palette you chose for these. The use of line for rain super effective!!
Oh my goodness – this is gorgeous. Fabulous job!
LOVE it!! The pops of color from the umbrellas are great against the grey and the “rain” quilting is the perfect finish. Nice work!
Love it, what a fab idea. I’ve almost finished my quilt, started ……years ago. Thank you for the inspiration. I will finish this quilt and then hope to finish the others
Love this! Great job!
I love this quilt- rain, umbrellas and all!
love the colors/contrast/RAin QUILTING AND GORDON LIGHTOOT INSPRATON TITLE
Thanks, Sonja. I’ve tried to think of another title – since I’ve used this one 3 times now – but I just can’t come up with anything better than Gordon Lightfoot’s song title.
This is an incredible piece of art, best of luck, I hope you’ll win!
Nice work! The quilting is perfect for this piece!
This is really inspiring! I love the variegated thread for the rain it really gives the effect of light catching the rain as it falls. The binding on the back is really a nice tough not only for art quilts but even conventional quilts – thanks for the link to the tutorial so I can apply the method to some of my projects in the future.
Your work is fabulous! I just saw your article in the QA magazine… wow! And I see we both made the Map It Out challenge as finalists…that will be nice to see 2 Canadian names=) Love your work.
Great piece, really nice composition, good color. Nice!
I’ve had the same experience of losing a bit off the top. Grrr. In this case, it seems perfect because that is what happens when we see the world from under our own umbrellas. Brings us into the quilt.
