At the the VMQG December guild meeting on Monday night, we all received our scrap bag challenge and swap creations.
I made 2 mug rugs for Arita from her beautiful peach, yellow, orange and pink scraps. It was fun to work with these lovely colors – but it appears I neglected to take any photos after I finished them! But you can see them in the photo above – Arita is third from the left in the front row. And I received this delightful fabric container for my ‘Precious Snippets’ (what a great description for scraps!), made by Heather D. from my scraps.
I learned at the guild meeting that one of our VMQG group quilts has been been submitted to the juried quilt show at QuiltCon, the inaugural convention and quilt show of The Modern Quilt Guild, which will be held February 21-24, 2013 in Austin, TX. Our quilt was put together and quilted by Paul, and it’s beautiful.
An online group I belong to – a team of quilters who sell on Etsy, called the Quiltsy Team made a group quilt last year, which we called the Sisterhood of the Travelling Quilt, because the blocks were created by members from from Canada, Israel and 22 different U.S. states. It has also been entered in the QuiltCon show.
My entry to the Quilting Arts Magazine reader challenge ‘Tea or Coffee?’ was selected as a finalist, so I will be sending it to Quilting Arts Magazine, and I will hope to see it published in the April/May 2013 issue.
As you probably know, I sell my quilts on Etsy where I have an online shop. Etsy sends out a daily email called Etsy Finds, and today it features my self-portrait quilt. I’m getting a lot of views on my shop today!
