On my design wall

Here’s last week’s project – finished!  Thanks to everyone who made suggestions about fabrics for the corner units.  I actually previewed several more fabrics after last week’s post and selected 3 fabrics also used in the center.  I decided to cut down the center to reduce the finished size of the quilt.

I quilted with a square spiral on point, using this really cool neon-colored variegated thread.

I must say that knowing I’m going to be reporting on my progress every week is giving me an added incentive to finish projects quickly.  I even got a few sleeves sewn onto the quilts in the ‘pile’.

I’m working on two new projects this week.  At the retreat in September, I pieced some of the leftover scraps from the quilt above, with the plan to use them in a small quilt with some neutral Kona solids.

The next project is a challenge we’re doing at the Vancouver MQG.  We each received a half-meter of Robert Kaufman’s Kona Modern Quilts fabric line designed by our friend Cynthia of the FVMQG.  Each half-meter was a different pattern or colorway.  I got this one, Stripes in the Merlot colorway    We are to combine it with other prints from this line and/or Kona solids.   I think I’ll do a wonky version of the quilt I just finished.

I’m also going get some of those labels made for the quilts in ‘the pile’.

I’m linking up with these blogs for WiP Wednesday.  Click on the buttons below to see all the people participating and check out their projects.

I love your finished quilt. The narrow straight line quilting looks wonderful.

  2. I really like the off center look to your quilt. I agree that having someplace to post finished projects and look at what others are working on, is added incentive.

  3. The off centre is great! I am just learning some of the Modern concepts and this adds to the “ideas” in my head! That thread looks like it should be in my threads drawer! Would like to see it close up…

I really like the asymetry of your quilt, and that green you used? I could look at that forever, and be happy. 😛 Beautiful work.

  5. Love the quilt and its colors! The pieced bits for the art quilt are intriguing too

off centre is so cool and the scraps look like a great colour combo!

  7. looks great Terry – I like how you ended up bordering it and the quilting is perfect. Can’t wait to see your VMQG challenge piece, and what you do with your cut offs from this piece.
